Shortlist Announced – 2023 Peter Birks Prizes for Outstanding Legal Scholarship

The Society of Legal Scholars is delighted to announce the shortlist for the 2023 Peter Birks Prizes for Outstanding Legal Scholarship.  Each year the Society offers two prizes for outstanding published books by scholars in their early careers. The 2023 winners will be chosen from the shortlist below:

Dr Alysia Blackham, Reforming Age Discrimination Law: Beyond Individual Enforcement (OUP)

Dr Philippa Collins, Putting Human Rights to Work: Labour Law, The ECHR and the Employment Relation (OUP)

Dr Jodi Gardner, The Future of High-Cost Credit: Rethinking Payday Lending (Hart)

Dr Joshua Jowitt, Agency, Morality and Law (Hart)

Dr Jaime Lindsey, Reimagining the Court of Protection: Access to Justice in Mental Capacity Law (CUP)

Dr Sharon Thompson, Quiet Revolutionaries: The Married Women’s Association and Family Law (Hart)

Congratulations to those who have been shortlisted.   The judges were privileged to have the opportunity to read these and the other entries.  The winners of the prizes will be announced at the Annual Conference Dinner on Wednesday 28th June during the 114th Annual Conference at Oxford Brookes University.
