The Annual SLS Seminar

The deadline for applications to hold the SLS Annual Seminar 2025 is Friday 31 May 2024.

The Society is delighted to invite applications to hold the SLS Annual Seminar Series.  This fund was established as part of the commitment of the Society of Legal Scholars to supporting legal research and scholarship consistent with the charitable objects of the Society*.

The rules governing the award of funding for the Series are available here. Ordinary members of the Society in good standing prior to the 30th of September preceding the date of the application shall be eligible to make an application.

The Proforma Application Form should be used. If you are awarded a grant you will be required to send a report to the Administrative Secretary, using the Annual Seminar Report Form, not more than 18 months after the receipt of the award. This will be published in The Reporter and on the website.

When making your claim, please use the standard Claim Form.

Applications should be sent by email, to the Society’s Administrative Secretary admin@legalscholars.ac.uk, to arrive no later than close of business on the last Friday of May . The Society’s Research Sub-Committee will adjudicate on proposals.

*The charitable objects of the Society are the advancement of legal education in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Society is of the view that a seminar focussed on the law of another jurisdiction can advance these objects, for example where it compares the position with that in one or more of the jurisdictions of the UK or, more generally, it addresses a legal problem also found in one or more of those jurisdictions.
