Proposals are invited for papers to be presented at the inaugural Tax Policy Conference.

Date: Wednesday 13 April 2016.

Topic:  “The role of judges in developing the content of tax law” and potential areas of interest include (but are not restricted to) the following:

·      Judicial control of statutory interpretation
·      Status of judge-made principles
·      Tax exceptionalism (i.e. ‘is tax different?’)
·      The influence of specialist tribunals
·      The interaction of judges and politics

The CTL is a small centre with a particular focus on legal, philosophical and historical aspects of taxation, but we welcome abstracts from any academic field.  In particular, we would be glad to hear from lawyers in non-tax fields, non-lawyers, early career researchers and interested practitioners.

Abstracts of up to 500 words should be sent to Dominic de Cogan at dad34@cam.ac.uk by 15 October 2015.  The conference will be held in Christ’s College and a small fee may be applied to cover the costs of catering. As the venue is limited to 40 people, it would also be very helpful to receive expressions of interest from those who may wish to attend without presenting a paper.
